It's been a tough year. The excitement of a new year brought hope for expansion, new events, new ideas, new bands, a whole new different style festival. Help was needed and still is, donations are down, costs are up, volunteers are few. The dream of bringing a festival to the community like never seen here before has it's realities that has dampened the fire.

A partner to continue this endeavor is desperately wanted and needed. If you have a love for Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Roots, Gospel music, and want to see this festival grow and be a part of our culture then please call me. Let's talk. Let's dream. Let's examine what can be done. Let's continue the tradition...

Hi folks, well if you have been following us on Facebook you've seen our request for help. We are looking for several things. The first request was for (and still is) someone that would want to be a vendor with their horse and buggy and provide rides around the park. The other was if someone had a stagecoach to bring to the park as a display. We are always looking for volunteers, I really need help gathering quality items to be used in the scholarship raffle. If you have an instrument in good repair that you would like to donate that would be great! I need help raising funds. We need food and craft vendors. We are having and organizer meeting April 11 at the Pittsburg Parks and Recreation office. If your interested call me for more details. 620-249-5397. Thank you, Timothy.

WE DID IT!  Year 2015 was a shy but hardy crowd we didn't have a depth in numbers but we had some hardcore bluegrass lovers! We had folks that came with rain gear and we forged through. With a good ten minute shower in the morning we had few sprinkles through out the day. Then a beautiful evening to finish the show. All the bands sounded great! If you didn't make it this year, make sure to come next year. It will be a blast!

Hey Folks among of all the things it takes to pull off a festival, volunteers is at the to the top of the list. From my best estimates we'll need as many as 36 volunteers. That said I was figuring 13 hours at 2 hr spots with 6 volunteers for every 2 hours (with one 3 hour spot). I know some will be with me all day some half the day, some 4 hours we'll see what happens I'll post a volunteer list and we'll fill it up. As a volunteer you will receive tickets to the event ( no Duh!) these are good all day if you leave then come back later. You'll also get a Staff t-shirt. What will you do? Ticket booth, info/merchandise booth, and whatever may come up. No beer garden this year. This is easy stuff. All the while you'll get to hear the 4 states best bluegrass, folk, americana bands! Send me an email with your name, address, phone number and time you wish to help. Thank you and see you then!  Hours needed...9am-12am, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-6pm, 6pm-8pm, 8pm-10pm.

If you would like to help prior to the event I need help driving t-posts in the ground around the park the week of the festival. This will probably be Wednesday, June 10th. The orange fencing may go up that day but will more than likely be erected Thursday June 11, 2015. Something else I'm sure may come up, give me a call. (620) 249-5397.

Things continue to move forward, today we were helped out by Redd's Retail Liquor Store with a Guitar level donation  and by Pairott Head Liquor with a Bass Fiddle level sponsorship.

Home Depot also helped with a discount to the festival in the purchase of a 10'x10' Canopy.

We still need volunteers the day of the festival. Musicians for the Hootenanny and I could sure use the help the week of the festival driving t-posts in the ground for the fence. Get in touch with me if you can help.

What a great thing, we received two donations, one a private donor at the Mandolin level and SEK Art Fest at $2000. It is a validation that we are doing the right things. This week I got word from a local company they would buy 250 tickets and have their annual picnic at the park during the festival. Very cool! These are great steps forward, yet every dollar counts. Buy tickets, donate at the sponsor levels, volunteer your time, or in kind donations, all are greatly appreciated.

Thank you all who have given already, and thank you to all that are soon to give.
